IKGA LEORA SCHOLTEN SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM

The International Kiko Goat Association Supports Small Ruminant Veterinary Students.

During our IKGA membership meeting, it was suggested to rename our IKGA Scholarship Fund in memory of Leora Scholten, our previous IKGA store manager, who passed away May 2017. The IKGA was near and dear to her heart and she will be missed. Many of our IKGA members have known her over the years. Leo played a big part in keeping the IKGA running and offering emotional support when we have become overwhelmed with all that is involved. We have added a place on membership application and renewal for those who would like to make a donation in honor of her memory.

Each year, the IKGA awards at least one scholarship to a deserving college student who has expressed an interest in pursuing a career in Caprine Veterinary Medicine. Early each year the Scholarship Committee mails out letters announcing the program to many colleges that offer a Veterinary program. The scholarship is awarded at Kikofest at the annual members’ meeting. In the past, some of our scholarship recipients have attended Kikofest to receive their award.

The International Kiko Goat Association (IKGA) will be awarding a scholarship for the 2018-2019 academic year to promote veterinary training with emphasis in small ruminants (especially goats). The scholarship application deadline is April 30, 2018.
